Member Rosemarie Palmer recently published a 101-page booklet (plus Appendices) about local black history. It is entitled, “African American Heritage 1619-2020. A Chronology of Local Black Culture and History in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, Virginia,” She has been informed that it will be used as a resource in the new elective, “African American History”, that will be offered in Rockingham County high schools in the new school year. The booklet is for sale at the Harrisonburg – Rockingham Historical Society Museum in Dayton, Virginia for $22.
